Foreign Ministry appointed ISIS-linked Suldaan Said Ahmed as Special Representative
Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen has appointed Suldaan Said Ahmed, a Somali member of the Left Alliance linked to the ISIS terrorist organisation, as her Special Representative.
Suldaan Said Ahmed, Left Alliance, was also previously "special representative for mediation" in the Horn of Africa, appointed by Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto in 2022-2023, who rescued ISIS fighters to Finland to escape international jurisdiction without being charged with crimes against humanity.1
- "Seeking peaceful solutions to conflicts has always been one of the fundamental objectives of Finnish foreign policy. Said Ahmed's extensive networks in the Horn of Africa are a great asset to our work for stability in the region," says Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen.
The appointment is a personal position of trust for Said Ahmed, which he holds in addition to his paid employment and his role as a councillor.
However, Said Ahmed was not able to stand for a further term in the Left Alliance after his jihadist links were exposed on social media during the last parliamentary elections.
Apparently, his background and connections are known to the whole nation, but not to the Foreign Ministry.
Known as an Islamist, Said Ahmed is known because the mosque he visits was once a recruitment site for the ISIS terrorist organisation. The former Roihuvuori mosque of the Helsinki Muslims' Union, now located in Malmi, prepared several terrorist acts and from there travelled to Syria.
"Said Ahmed, who was appointed as a 'peace broker', once publicly invited foreign Islamist hate preachers to the ISIS mosque in question, supporting, advertising and praising them highly.
Said Ahmed has also admitted to having personally known terrorists who travelled from Finland to join the ranks of ISIS, and later died in combat, for whom he has openly expressed sympathy on social media.
Moreover, Said Ahmed has in the past shown support for Turkey's Islamist monarch Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, whom he has praised from heaven to earth.
During his last term, Mr Ahmed proposed the establishment of an Islamic Sharia bank in Finland so that Muslims would not have to pay interest on loans. According to him, charging interest to other Muslims was against Islam.
Said Ahmed is also known as a public anti-Semite, based on numerous social media updates.
